The Gifted and Talented program is a great opportunity for eligible students younger than 16 who have completed the seventh grade and are looking at taking credit courses at AACC prior to high school graduation. Eligible Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) students can take classes without paying tuition and fees and can receive required course materials at no charge. To have your full tuition and fees waived, you'll need to select one of the eligible courses determined by AACPS. If you select a course that is not approved for AACPS ECAP benefits, complete the Maryland Public High School Tuition Discount Request Form to request a 25% tuition discount for credit classes. Eligible Maryland homeschooled students or students that attend a private school in Maryland can take classes with a 25% tuition discount for credit classes.

Who is Eligible to Participate?

Public school students, students living in Maryland who have met the verification guidelines for homeschool or students enrolled in private schools in Maryland are eligible to take courses at AACC.

With the approval of your school principal, counselor or appropriate school official, you can get a jump start on your educational goals. Eligible students may participate through the spring term of their senior year subject to AACC’s Gifted and Talented admissions criteria outlined below

Steps to Enroll

Gifted and talented students (under 16 and having completed seventh grade) must receive preapproval.

  • For AACPS students: Visit your school district's webpage to determine restrictions and eligibility. Contact your school counselor for information about the preapproval process.
  • Attend a Gifted and Talented Virtual Information Session to learn enrollment steps and discuss course selection.
  • If you’ve not applied to AACC, submit your application for admission. After completing your application, you will receive instructions for setting up a MyAACC student account.
  • For AACPS Students: Complete the ECAP Funding Request Form. Provide your AACPS username and password and the form will populate with your student information. If you need help accessing the form, email the AACPS Help Desk at help-desk@aacps.org
    • Once you have accessed your form, add the course(s) you plan to enroll in and submit your form for approval. Submitting your form will auto-generate a chain of approval emails (parent/guardian, counselor, principal). If approved, the funding request is automatically sent to AACC. This process can take several days. Submitting your ECAP application does not register you for your classes. You may be required to pay tuition and fees depending upon the time of registration. You will receive any applicable refund for the approved ECAP benefits or discounted amount once your ECAP form is processed
  • For Non-AACPS Gifted and Talented: Visit the Private & Home School Students page and complete the appropriate enrollment steps.
  • Take the English Accuplacer. You must also take the Math Accuplacer if the goal is to enroll in a math or science course. Visit our Testing page for information.
  • Register for classes. The director of admissions and enrollment development is your academic advisor and can assist with course selection and eligibility. The director will work with the associate deans on course oversight to determine your eligibility to enroll. Once your enrollment eligibility is approved, the director will make sure you are registered.
  • Send a copy of your high school transcript to records and registration at records@aacc.edu.
  • Attend an ECAP orientation.
