Dr. Dawn Lindsay, AACC president, was recognized by the Maryland Senate on March 31 for her leadership and impact as a woman who has shaped Maryland’s communities and strengthened the state’s civic, educational and economic landscape.
“It is a privilege to serve a community that believes in the power of education to transform lives,” Dr. Lindsay said. “Working with the members of the Maryland General Assembly has been a meaningful part of my journey, and I am grateful for their partnership and commitment to Maryland’s students.”
The recognition comes as Dr. Lindsay prepares to retire in June. Major milestones of her presidency have included the opening of two new buildings, multiple awards and recognitions, expanded transfer pathways and deepened partnerships, as well as the establishment of the college’s first chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer.
“I know that we in Anne Arundel are very, very proud of our community college. It certainly has gained national distinction,” Sen. Shaneka Henson said during the floor session. “We just want to thank Dr. Lindsay for her 13 years of distinguished service at Anne Arundel Community College.”
