Are you seeking a career where you can combine your left-brain analytical skills with right-brain problem solving, and help people in the process?
If you're a curious problem-solver who likes to dig into the “why” behind the rules, and you’re ready to make a difference, AACC’s Law and Jurisprudence Pre-Law Transfer program might be your perfect launchpad.
Here, you'll build a strong foundation in legal thinking, sharpen your research and writing skills, and learn how the American legal system really works. You'll learn all this from faculty who are experienced attorneys and judges that actually have done this work.
You'll also get real-world experience through our internship program, plus take classes like Legal Research and Writing at the Maryland State Law Library. And when you're ready to take the next step? You’ll be fully prepared to transfer to a four-year school! You can even fast-track your way to law school through our early admission partnership with the University of Baltimore.
This program is not an ABA approved program and does not prepare students to work as a paralegal.
The Legal Studies Institute is proud to offer the following Associate of Arts (A.A.) in law and jurisprudence. As an additional transfer option, AACC has the unique Transfer Studies degree. All of these degrees will prepare you to transfer to a four-year institution. Whichever path you choose, we strongly encourage you to meet with an advisor to structure your AACC studies to meet your specific transfer goals.
You’ll develop a proficiency in writing, speaking, researching, analyzing and thinking logically. Through core courses considered essential to the jurisprudence student – such as ethics, constitutional law, legal research and writing – you’ll gain a multidisciplinary background critical for success in the legal world.
Once you earn your A.A. in Law and Jurisprudence, you can transfer to complete your four-year degree. We have partnerships and transfer agreements in place with many colleges and universities so you can easily transfer when you're ready. Transfer agreements (or articulation agreements, as they’re officially called) are formal arrangements between institutions that allow certain credits to transfer seamlessly from one school to the other. You can work with a transfer advisor to set up a specific plan to transfer to the four-year school of your choice. Many of our students transfer to the early admit program at the University of Baltimore, where it’s possible to complete law school in two years instead of the traditional three.
