For Laura Pasquini, art isn’t just about solitary hours spent in a quiet studio. It's also “a community-centered act that can transform individuals and foster connection.”
That philosophy makes her the perfect co-lead for AACC's Arts Integration Hub. Alongside her colleagues, she helps design hands-on creative projects for students in a variety of disciplines. Consider using art projects in biology or history class as a new way of engaging with what you're learning in the classroom.
Pasquini has more than 25 years of experience in visual arts and museum education, including roles at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the National Gallery of Art. She has presented regionally and nationally on arts integration, experiential learning, museum partnerships and creative pedagogy in higher education. She is also deeply connected to her Italian heritage and has traveled extensively throughout Italy — painting in Florence and Venice, studying Renaissance masters and interning at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
Today, she uses that expertise in her role as ACCC’s Visual Arts program navigator. Since 2022, she’s helped students map out academic and career pathways, and connecting them with experiential learning opportunities and industry professionals.
“We have some of the most hard-working, dedicated and resilient students, and I love being greeted each day by their curiosity, creativity and smiles,” she said.
Outside of AACC, Pasquini practices what she preaches by "exploring creativity in everyday life." You can usually find her working in her sketchbooks, cooking up a feast for her family, pursuing her love of Italian culture or cuddling with her corgi, Sophie, and rescue cat, Sharpie.
